FAQ

  • Giancarlo Scalise’s therapy approach is real, collaborative, and grounded in human connection. He helps clients feel understood and supported while working through the patterns that keep them stuck — whether it’s anxiety, stress, self-doubt, or relationship struggles.

  • Finding the right therapist is about more than credentials — it’s about finding someone who feels safe, genuine, and easy to talk to.

Look for a therapist whose presence helps you relax and feel understood. Notice if their style fits what you need — whether that’s practical tools for anxiety, stress, or self-doubt, or space to explore relationships and life transitions.

Giancarlo Scalise brings a warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach to help adults and teens feel supported and understood. He offers a free 15-minute consultation so you can see if it feels like the right fit.

The best advice? Trust your gut. If you feel a genuine connection and relief when you meet a therapist, you’re probably in the right place.

  • Getting started is simple. You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation or reach out by email or phone to connect.

Giancarlo will walk you through what to expect — from intake forms to your first therapy session. Each session is guided by what you need most. You might explore recent challenges, emotions, or relationship patterns in a way that feels supportive and down-to-earth.

Most clients leave feeling seen, lighter, and with small insights or steps they can apply in daily life. You don’t need to have everything figured out — starting is the first step toward real change.

  • I am an out-of-network mental health provider, which means payment is due in full at the time of each session. Afterward, I will provide you with a monthly Superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit directly to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

Most insurance plans reimburse 60–80% of the session fee once your out-of-network deductible has been met. Reimbursement rates and deductibles vary, so it’s always best to confirm your specific coverage before beginning therapy.

To help guide that conversation, you can ask your insurance representative the following questions:

    1. Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?

    2. Does my plan cover 50-minute sessions (CPT code 90834-95 for telehealth)?

    3. What percentage of each session will be reimbursed, and is there a maximum amount?

    4. Have I met my deductible, and will I owe any co-pays?

    5. How do I submit Superbills or claims for reimbursement?

Understanding these details helps you plan for the cost of care and make the most of your insurance benefits.

  • We use a HIPAA-secure video system that works a lot like FaceTime or Skype, so it’s easy and familiar. Sessions are held through SimplePractice (for Apple and Android users) or Zoom, both safe and reliable platforms that protect your privacy.

If you’re using a smartphone or iPad, you’ll just need to download the free app once. If you’re on a laptop or computer, no download is needed — you can join right from your browser.

Before each session, you’ll get an email with a secure link. Then… BAM! Click, and you’re ready to therapize your life — no tech stress, just an easy connection and real conversation.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes — the perfect amount of time to check in, work through what’s coming up, and make progress without feeling rushed.

For therapy to be most effective, I usually meet with clients once a week. In some cases, we may decide that every other week feels like a better fit. We’ll talk about your goals, schedule, and comfort level to find a rhythm that works best for you.

  • Getting started is easy! Just fill out the contact form on my website to schedule your free consultation.

During this time, you’ll have a chance to share what’s bringing you in, ask any questions, and get a feel for how I work. It’s also a chance for us to see if it feels like a good fit before moving forward.

If it does, we’ll schedule your first session and officially get started.

  • Consultations are the perfect way to find out if we’ll be a good fit!

Sometimes it might seem like your situation doesn’t fall within my usual focus — but once we talk, it turns out that it does. We’ll use your free 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals, clarify any questions, and decide together whether it feels right to work together.

If it’s not the best match, no worries — I’ll refer you to another trusted, highly qualified therapist who I believe could be a great fit for you.
